Inconsistent mileage calculation

I've only had my Versa for about a week and so far I love it! It seems to track my steps accurately; however, I noticed this weekend that although I logged 11,000 steps each day, it only calculated approximately 3.7 miles. On other days, when I've logged 13,000 steps, it calculates 6.2 miles. It's a difference of approximately 2000 steps per mile. Anyone else noticed this problem? Any thoughts on how to fix it?? I will say on those 2 days where the mileage was low it was just regular chores, as opposed to walking on a treadmill in addition to regular daily movement, but I'm not sure why that would make a difference. 😞

I'm having the same issues.  My avg stride with my Blaze was 27.3.  My avg stride with my Versa is anything from 19.8 to 45.4. This is happening when I'm walking the exact same distances at work that I always walked.  I'm about ready to exchange it for another one.

It might be averaging it between running and walking. That's interesting though.

That might be a good cause if I was a runner.  🙂

I even have the Calculate Steps Automatically turned off with my walking stride set at 27.3" but it still does whatever it wants.

I’m finding that too . I started keeping track yesterday at how many miles I’ve gone after 21120 steps which should be 10 miles with a 30” step .

Has anyone worked out how to solve this. Normally 10,000 steps comes up around 4.5 miles for me. I’ve gone 15000 steps today and it says I’ve gone 10miles which is a third more than I’d expect. My blaze was always pretty consistent but not with the versa.

I'm having that too. I noticed it yesterday when I when for a 7km hike an only made 13075 steps; it just didn't seem accurate, there should have been more steps there. So I checked my week and compared km with steps each day... on Tuesday I supposedly made 6.38 km and 8049 steps, and on Thursday 'made' 5.55 km and 11.389 steps.

How is it posible to make more steps in less distance? Don't know how to fix it.

Because my FitBit was so new, I exchanged it for a new one that keeps track
SO much better. I'm glad I did.

I am having the same problem. My charge 2 had me down at 5 miles constantly at 11,668.  The versa is all over on mileage vs steps. 5 miles for me with versa is any where from 16,281-19,198 steps. I have even used GPS to see if it will help get it back to what I had with my Charge2 but it hasn’t helped. I am an loyal walker so no running here. I am hoping there is a fix I am missing. It is sad that my steps and miles no longer sync up.

I’ve had my Versa 2 months or so. Just last week, the Versa started giving me more miles than I’m actually getting- I walk in my yard, and have for years, so I know how long it takes to go a certain distance. I don’t know what changed!

I'm searching around because I'm having the same issue. I noticed today that no matter how many steps I take I can't get to 5 miles. I am at 17,352 currently and it has me down at 4.19 miles but any other day I will be very close to 10 miles. I'm so confused.

I ended up purchasing a new one and then returning the defective one.
Haven't had a problem since.

I ADORE my Fitbit--had it for exactly 1 week.  Tonight,  it started doing funky calculations for mileage AND synching really weirdly (it synched the steps, but not the exercise minutes).  I didn't even know it was possible for it to "semi-sync."

I no longer have my problem of inconsistency in steps. I now have the latest update. I also changed my Versa to dominate hand even though I wear it on my non dominant arm. That really helped on my steps being more accurate before I got the latest update. I found my Versa counted all my fidgeting as steps and those “steps” did not count to my mileage. So I had high steps and low mileage. Try what helped me until you get the lstest update and see if it works for you!
