Ionic to a Versa

So the altimeter on my Ionic quit working outside of warranty and Fitbit offered me a discount on a new tracker. After doing a ton of research I’ve decided to give the Versa a shot. I like that the Versa is a bit smaller (although part of me misses that big blocky Ionic screen lol), but I’m not a fan of the band that comes with it compared to the Ionic’s band (the Versa band is stiffer and not as comfortable). Kinda wished it had built-in GPS like the Ionic but I’m not sure I actually need it so I’m less concerned about that. Did my first weight training with the Versa today and even though the Versa and Ionic apparently have the same sensors - the Versa seems to be quicker to lock into my heart rate than the Ionic which I wasn’t expecting since the Ionic is supposed to be the top-end watch in the Fitbit lineup (although the Versa is newer). I guess I have 45 days to try it out and then decide whether I keep it, return it and get a new Ionic, or switch brands entirely. Anyone else have experience moving from an Ionic to a Versa and are you happy with your decision?

Hi, I moved from the Ionic, which I've had for 1 year, to the Versa and do not regret if for a second. So far I haven't had any serious problems with my Versa. I like the design, is easier to wear and, since I bought the SE version, it has a very comfortable woven band. Just my personal opinion/experience.

That’s good to hear. My Ionic was great until lately then it started to get glitchy (lag time when swiping between screens, random restarts) and finally the altimeter conking our. So far I’m liking the Versa - but will give it a few days before I make my final decision 😉 It seems smoother than the Ionic in terms of the software.  I also picked up the SE version too but I am saving the woven band for work (I have an office job).

How do you like your Versa? I had an Ionic for almost 2 yrs and it died today! I only used the GPS a handful of times, so I'm not worried about that. I do work out and move a lot, so I'm hoping the Versa seems as accurate as the Ionic.

I desperately want to like it but I’m struggling....the size is definitely nicer than the Ionic - it’s great for sleep tracking and I barely notice it on my wrist. But the reliability has been so-so. For the first week - about half of my connected GPS walks quit mid-walk. I chatted with Fitbit support and after several factory resets and fresh installs - that glitch seems to be rectified.  But I’ve really had trouble with it’s accuracy during weightlifting. I find it registers my heart rate way too high for the first 20-30 minutes....like routinely in the150-160 range in between sets which doesn’t make sense at all (it’s recording a heartbeat way way faster than what I can feel on my wrist). After about 1/2hr it seems to settled into the 120-140 range which I think is more accurate. I’m just not sure whether to hang onto it or not...heart rate is bang on during sleep and sitting around, but for example I walked from my deck about 30 feet to my garage and it jumped to 130 during that time. That’s waaay too high. Not sure if I’m going to keep it....
