Logging an exercise with Versa 2

Hi,

I got the versa2 at Christmas time. When I go for a run, do I need to have my phone with me? I go to log a run on my watch and it’s taking ages to connect. I end up running for a while without it being connected and so when I’ve finished the run the distance is less than what I’ve actually ran. It mustn’t be connecting to GPS without my phone but should it not still connect straight away when I press start?
Thanks!

Seems like you are having some connection problems.

A good idea would be to restart both phone and watch first, like

Logout of Fitbit app [click profile photo, top left, scroll to bottom]

Shut down watch

[ Swipe left, Settings,

at the bottom, About,

at the bottom, Shutdown]

wait a minute

Restart phone

Start watch [Hold button till it vibrates and wait for Logo and clock to reappear]

If you have your phone with you it will be able to track your route via the GPS on your phone if you manually start a run. The route will then appear in your exercise in the phone app.

If you don't have the phone it can only count the steps and estimate the distance, which will be less precise and no route will be shown.

Thank you for your help. I have reset the phone and Fitbit. It still takes a few minutes to connect but that must just be normal then and obviously I need to just bring the phone with me. Thank you!
