Malfunctioning Versa 2 - battery, clock face and sync

Today my perfectly working Fitbit Versa 2 went from fully charged to dead in only a few hours. During this time, I also noticed that the heart rate monitor was also not working. I then recharged it and the clock screen stopped working. The other app icons show but won't open when selected. 

I am now recharging for the third time today even though I haven't been able to even use the watch.

I am also unable to sync the Fitbit with the app so haven't been able to try switching clock faces.

My Fitbit is otherwise in excellent condition so I don't understand how it can be functioning perfectly one day and faulty the next.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Mine just started acting up yesterday. There's another thread of several with the same issue I'm reading through now.
