Anyone know why my watch is mapping my run as a straight line and not as a loop. The distance is there. Thank you

That's really strange behaviour. Has it just started happening or always done this?

Are you starting and ending your run from the exercise app with GPS connected? Does the GPS stay connected. This is essential to see the run trace in the exercises tile afterwards.

Something to try is restart your watch or even reset it. Restart is quite safe but it might take 30 seconds or so to wake back up. Resetting will make it forget any personalisation and you will need to add or to the app again.

Hi, yes starting from the watch, starts ok, does map the distance great and time just loses it when finished, has done it now a few times GPS seems to disconnect when running but picks up again. Not sure if I should look at getting a new watch, move away from fitbit, as counts steps as I'm driving.

Hi, It's definitely worth restarting the watch. You won't lose anything and it might just fix the problem.

Loss of GPS for an extended time could cause straight lines on the map where the waypoints are missing.

The watch takes GPS location readings at frequent intervals throughout your run. These are called waypoints and it uses them to mark the route that you took on the map. If the watch loses GPS, these location waypoints are not recorded. If this happens for a significant period of time you would see straight lines on the map between the remaining points that it does have. The distance might be roughly correct, but the detail will be missing.

Try and keep the GPS connected throughout your run. If the watch has a clear view of the sky in several directions it should have no trouble. Try and keeping the watch uncovered if it is struggling. Lots of tall buildings or heavy tree cover can block or confuse the signal.

Thank you for your help in this, I run around my town through the streets so shouldn't really lose GPS  but I have noticed that this does happen. Probably need a new watch but not sure if fitbit is the way to go. I have just restarted the watch so going out this morning for a run, will see what happens. Thank you again for your help
