My Fitbit versa opens like a small box

I got a replacement Fitbit versa after it stops working within 1 month of buying. After getting replacement I started using it like normal 80’s watch not wearing at all when I was doing anything related to water. Not watching utensils not taking to toilet and all. After using few month like that without getting it wet not for a single sec. I decided to go for sauna and steam bath and here we go. While sitting in the sauna room I just twisted my wrist to see the time and the whole watch open up like a small box with lot of chips and that’s the end. Pls see pictures. I am extremely dissatisfied with this product. I feel like I wasted my money.

Hi @Versa2.

To be honest I can't say I'm surprised. It can get pretty hot in a sauna, to the point it can damage electrical items (as you've found out). Even if the device could survive, there is the risk of personal injury with the metal getting extremely hot and burning your skin. It's not recommended to wear metal (which the Versa is made from) or use electronics in a sauna. Fitbit even state the following on their safety page (here).

  • Do not expose your Fitbit product to extremely high or low temperatures.
  • Do not use your Fitbit product in a sauna or steam room.
