My Versa 2 doesn't turn on

I have the versa 2. I have had it since Christmas 2019,  I  went swimming this weekend( got in the pool no deeper the 4ft!) put it in swim mode. It worked ok while in the water but that night it died and won't turn back on. When charging it has the fitbit logo-no battery percentage and did not vibrate when placed on the charger, off the charger black screen. I contacted customer service and was told it is out of warranty and was given 35% off my next purchase. I understand I have had it for over a year but a device being advertised as "water resistant to 50meters" should not have broke in 4ft of water. Not impressed and feel this is false advertising. Any suggestions? After reading the forums it appears ALOT of fitbit users have a water issue with a water resistant device.
