Not receiving email notifications on Versa 2

I am trying to receive notifications on my Fitbit Versa 2 and have looked at the old forum posts, followed the directions and still nothing.

I have an iphone 12 and a Fitbit Versa 2

The available toggle notifications in the fitbit app are (calls, text messages, and calendar events (which still does not work for me either, that will be a different post)

Things I have tried:

- going to settings in my iphone and allowing notifications, notification grouping is set to "automatic", alerts are set to "lock screen, notification center, and banners", banner style is "temporary", badges is toggled on, show previews is set to "always"

- going to settings in my phone and going to the mail section, notifications are set to same as stated above.

- restarted my phone

- synched my Versa

I am at a loss as to what else to try. How can I get email notifications as a toggle selection in the Fitbit app? How can this translate over to receiving notifications on my watch?
