Not receiving notifications on my Versa 2

I received a Fitbit Versa 2 for my 60th birthday (less than a week ago) for the past few days my son has tried to link my Huawei P20 lite phone and my Versa 2. It connects and syncs just fine but I don't receive notifications on my Versa 2. My son has done everything from Uninstalling the app and reinstalling it to restarting my phone. It keeps giving a error that says you need to restart your phone but that does not work as mentioned above. He has also done everything on the fitbit Help website. Please help!

Take a look at the Approved Devices list for special instructions regarding your particular phone.
