Not tracking my steps

I just bought my Versa 2. Today was the first full day wearing it. I went grocory shopping with it. When pushing a shopping cart it only recorded half of my steps. Why? I have another pedometer that recorded 1500 more steps and it wasnt on me the  whole time.

probably because holding the cart kept the arm from swinging in a natural way. 

The tracker monitors arm motions to determine what your legs are doing. In some instances the tracker will miss steps, and at other times it will count false steps. It averages out.

Missing 1600 steps will not even out. If I can't push a shopping cart and it count my activity why do I need this thing?
