I have an error message in the phone app "Notification service not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker". When the phone is re-started, the error remains. My phone is Oneplus 7
This error only recently appeared.

I just figured this out on my OnePlus 5t and us "OnePlus'ers" have each other's backs.
Hopefully that fixes your problem, it did for me at least.

I worked with a Fitbit support person (Vanessa) who got mine working again and got rid of the message.. It involved removing the device, and replacing it among other things, but the message disappeared. It's worth calling support if you can.

Easy solution, but found out after numerous trials.
-Disable notificatfrom Fitbit app
-Unpair Fitbit device from your phone
-Restart both your phone and your Fitbit device
-Pair Device and turn on notification from Fitbit app
Notification works again flawlessly.

My problem is solved by turning off battery optimization and a restart of my one plus7pro.

1) Disable the battery optimization for the Fitbit app
2) Lock Fitbit app in multitasking switcher
3) Restart your OnePlus device
It should be working on OnePlus devices. This method permanently fixed issue on my previous OnePlus 7 Pro (Android 9 and 10) and my friend's OnePlus 7T (Android 10).

Fitbit keep saying this is a known problem - but still don't seem to be doing anything about it. I'm giving up with fitbit now (after 5 years)n and switiching to Samsung
