So I'm seeing conflicting versions of this. Some threads about notifications just refer to the vibration but my understanding is that the screen should wake as well?
According to the help documentation for notifications at this link https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1979 under "how do notifications work" when you select "ionic & versa" it states "Your watch vibrates when a notification is available and the information appears briefly."
Does the information only appear if the watchface is already on? It's very silly that the watch vibrates but the screen doesn't wake, when I get a notification on my phone it waked up the display to show it. Often times it is faster to look over at my phone on the desk than wake the watch, which was the whole point of notifications on my wrist.
Is there a setting I'm not seeing for this, or is a vibration only the expected behavior? As a pebble and amazifit user the lack of screen wake kills functionality for me. If it's not possible I'll likely just return it and see if maybe a future update adds this ability.

It only flashes it if you activate it via the gyro. Otherwise try always on screen.

I also don't like the fact that it shows that I have 2msgs from someone, but doesn't show the text. The text notification is inferior to all others I've had.

Same issue, very annoying that a text doesn't wake the screen. I was quite surprised about this. Initially I thought my watch was defective. Please give us this option!

That's my experience also, if there is a notification, the versa just vibrates, it doesn't wake the screen to show you the notification, you still have to interact with the watch,.
coming from a Pebble, I'm still getting used to the screen not always being on, but this should be an easy option for them to add.

I agree. I am returning this item due to the lack of screen wake on notifications. I should not have to push a button or try to make the screen come on just to see who is calling or texting. I actually missed several calls/texts yesterday because of this. There also does not seem to be any difference between "normal" and "strong" vibration. I will keep my old Garmin. Poor notifications, lack of continual screen on, and the stupid way to turn on the **ahem** screen is just frustrating. Might as well just use my phone for everything.

Hello everyone and welcome to the Community! As several of you have mentioned when you get a notification the Versa will vibrate but the screen won't turn on. It will light up if you rotate your arm or press the button on it where it will show briefly. If you would like to have the screen turning on automatically I suggest you vote for the idea in our Feature suggestions board. The more votes an idea gets the more likely the developers will try to implement for all users.
Let me know how it goes!

Someone replied to vote on screen turning on when you pick up wrist and notifications showing from my iPhone. My Versa was already doing those things and now it has stopped. I have restarted it twice. Why did it stop?

Agree with all of the above. The whole point of the watch is to be able to glance at notifications. This will be a deal-breaker for me. Return and good bye Fitbit.

Mine worked for about two months but now has stopped. Is there a way to restore that feature without resetting the whole watch?
