Over counting steps

I recently got a Fitbit Versa yesterday and I just started using it today. I’ve noticed that it does over count my steps and I would like to know if there’s a way to fix it. I haven’t been walking or doing any activity but it currently says that I took 857 steps. I’ve seen people tell others to restart it but I don’t know how to do that yet. Is Fitbit going to fix this??

Restarting the Versa is easy and explained in the help docs. Link to help will be found below or under settings in the Fitbit app.

Hold in both the left and lower right buttons.

How do I restart my Fitbit device?

As for fixing this issue, your tracker is mounted on the arm and only able to monitor arm motions.
While Fitbit does a pretty good job of determining that the feet are moving through arm motions, there will be times when the movement of the arms gives falls steps. There will also be times like when pushing a cart steps will not be detected.
