I just purchased two versa 2 (for me and wife). For both watches, Pedometer is inaccurate and gives me tons of ghost steps. For both watches weight keeps changing by over 200lbs.

please help.

@jjpgonzalez15   With respect to your issue of your ghost steps, this can be an issue for some users because of "how this stuff works".  There is an accelerometer in the tracker that senses the movement, but then there are algorithms that have to decide what really is a step and what isn't.  Many users who work with their hands get ghost steps because their hand movement gets perceived to be a step.  My hair stylist gave up on her Fitbit because she would get thousands of steps by midmorning.  If you wear your tracker on your non-dominant wrist, you can reduce your ghost steps by changing the setting to Dominant in your app.

With respect to your weight log issue, this is a feature of the app, not the tracker.  What type of phone do you use, Android or iPhone?  I did some simple math.  The two weights aren't multiples of each other and it's not a pounds and kilos mismatch.

I browsed both app forums and I don't see other reports about the weight logging problem.  I suggest you start a new thread in the appropriate app forum.

Your weight is changing by over 200 pounds?  Where is the weight measurement coming from?  It can come directly from an attached scale such as the Fitbit Aria 2, or you can be manually logging it?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I don’t own a smart scale. I weight my self using a traditional scale and then through the fitbit phone app I manually log my current weight... By the end of day my weight changes. Ex. Monday I recorded my weight at 227.9 by manual entry. By Tuesday it said my weight was 511.4.

Thanks for your reply this actually makes a lot of sense. I use an iPhone XMAX; I learned that Fitbit doesn’t fully support newer devices such as Iphone11 and not all features are compatible with newer cellphone models. Do I need to add my weight every day on my phone app? I need to do more research on why this changes after I log my weight.

I do work in an office setting and do a lot of typing. Maybe Developers should consider adjusting algorithms and add additional profiling questions when you are initially setting up your Fitbit since this has such a huge impact on your watch (i.e. ask what type of profession/work/activity you do as part of your daily routine).

Today 1/24/20 after 2hr of work “sitting down” these are my readings so far. Two apps (Fitbit & Stepz). My phone in my pocket at all times and I wear my watch on my non-dominant hand.

-Readings-

Versa2: 3,637 steps and 2,414calories (there’s no way I burned this many calories).

Iphone XMAX “Stepz” app: 1691 steps and 101 Kcal. 1kcal=1000cal.

This is very disappointing considering Fitbit is one of the leaders in fitness/health smart watch industry.

I did the following:
1) adjusted stride length over what it actually is.

2) I wear watch on my non-dominant hand And will keep wearing it in same hand. However, from your comment, I changed settings to “dominant hand.” I realized this is how Versa 2 adjusts sensitivity.

3) I adjusted custom max heart rate slightly higher than what it automatically was set. Hope Fitbit gives me a better reading for my calories.

4) My units are set: length-feet/miles, Weight-pounds, Water-Ounces, and yards for swimming.

Im very good with technology, and maybe this is part of the learning curve for this device. Either way, all these tips and tricks already seem excessive in order to try to calibrate my watch. I hope I don’t do more harm than good by making these setting adjustments, but after reading many forums and comments this is the only way I seem able to “calibrate” my watch.
