Phantom Exercise Sessions

I am new to Versa, having moved over from a Polar training watch. I have successfully set it up with my iPhone, but a problem has arisen.

My habit has long been to walk to the gym (as a warmup), use the treadmill or strider machine for a serious cardio workout and then either walk home (as a cool-down) or catch the bus home if I am short on time. When I walk home, the Versa correctly interprets this as an exercise session. However, when I catch the bus, my Versa generously interprets this as an "exercise session" as well. It’s the easiest exercise I currently undertake, sitting on my bum on board a bus!

I can only think that the cardio session at the gym has raised my heart-rate to an elevated level and that, as my heart-rate returns to normal, it is still high enough to count as "exercise" even though I am sitting on a bus. Needless to say, this leads to all sorts of inaccuracies regarding exercise intensity, number of steps, etc. and rather ruins the day's exercise record, since I have got a whole lot of unearned extras credited to my daily totals.

My suggestion would be that an exercise session should only result from the use of the Exercise App, and that  other daily totals, like number of steps, are just recorded cumulatively, rather than as part of an exercise session which has come about from what the Versa infers from its input. This would be reflected more accurately on the Dashboard section related to exercise sessions.

Currently, the only workaround I can think of is to delete the phantom exercise sessions, which is a nuisance to have to do frequently.

@SunsetRunner Nah. It can happen if the ride is bumpy, buses, cars, bikes. Known issue. Try changing the Wrist Placement setting in your Account settings to Dominant. Also, you can give Versa a reboot by pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons until Fitbit logo flashes. To remove the "ghost" steps from driving you can manually log Driving activity in your Fitbit mobile app (or Dashboard on Fitbit.com) for the time period when you accumulated the steps.
