Phone does not show steps or exercise as an option to open on start up page. They used to be listed, but are no longer there. Also, text messages do not show on the watch.

I appreciate the information shared. I'd recommend you follow the instructions on How do I connect my Fitbit account with another app?. Also verify you have the latest Fitbit Firmware and OS of your mobile device as well.

 

Some users usually find it useful to unpair and then pair both apps again to refresh the performance, if you already have them paired.

After you perform these steps you can also try to restart your Fitbit device.
