Pickleball

I play pickleball almost daily and was wondering if there was a recommended app or setting to record this exercise. So far, I have just been looking at the number of steps. When I first got my Versa last summer I looked for a pickleball-specific app, but only saw one for tennis which I couldn't get to work right.

Welcome to the forums!

Use Workout mode. Then set up a custom record for Pckleball. Once it syncs to the dashboard you can rename it.

Create a custom record is located at the bottom of the activity tracker

I have been playing for years and have recently decided that I would like to go pro once covid is lifted which is something I believe the Fitbit could really help me achieve. The people I have played are already largely Fitbit users over a variety of your products, there is also no technology that currently tracks pickleball stats. It would be incredible if the exercise mode could track the amount of meters ran, time, forehands, backhands, how many times I was at the net versus back, etc.

Does the custom record you speak of create a new exercise option on the watch specific to Pickleball? If so, can you provide the instructions? Thanks

@flroots   Creating a custom workout doesn't add it to the exercise shortcuts on the watch.  You can't add anything to that list.  Creating a custom workout lets you rename an exercise after the fact.  Creating a custom workout takes a few steps and it is done on your web dashboard.  Here is how it is done:

  • Use the Workout choice to record your activity
  • Go to your web dashboard at fitbit.com
  • Tap on the Log option at the top, then Activities
  • The Workout record has an edit pencil in the line (should be next to the word Workout)
  • Tap on the pencil and an Edit box appears
  • Type pickleball -- pickleball isn't on the list of activities, so a blue Create Custom Activity option appears
  • Tap that and a new box appears with pickleball in it, so tap the pink bar then the gray Update option
  • that Workout should now say pickleball

When you play pickleball, use the Workout exercise shortcut.  After you are done, go to those exercise details in your phone app.  At the top, there is a Categorize Exercise choice.  Type pickleball in the search field and it should be on your list.
