REM sleep worryingly low (Fitbit Versa)

Hi there!

I've been going through the previous threads on this, but can't find an answer.

The last 2 weeks my REM is recording on my Versa as really low (e.g. last night only 20 mins!). In addition I am also waking up earlier than normal. Normally I would be in bed by 10pm and awake around 6am (weekday) or 7-7:30am weekend. Now it's bed at 10pm and waking up more like 5am, zzzzzz

A month ago my REM was usually around the 20-25% mark, but now it's dropped. Is anyone else experiencing this? I don't feel particularly tired, so I am wondering if I am wearing it too tight on my wrist? Has there been an update on the app? It's annoying as I like to record my sleep, but judging by my Fitbit I should be dead on my feet!

The only thing I have changed about my lifestyle/diet is no alcohol since December last year (so getting on for 2 months now). But my sleep was fine in January! SO I can't see how this is linked to my weird sleep. I am assuming it might be a Fitbit error.

Thank you for your help!

@LittleDarkHair did I understand correctly and you sleep less? 2.5 hours (as you get up /wake up at 5 am now?). If that's true that could contribute. I'm assuming you wear your Fitbit the same way. Just in case, reboot your device several times by pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons until Fitbit logo appears.

Thanks @Marrrmaduke !

I am sleeping less, but normally this wouldn't impact the % of REM I'm getting. Even with 5 hours sleep I can still get a good mix of REM, deep and light.

I'll try rebooting 🙂

@LittleDarkHair Actually shorter sleep could lead to a decrease in time spent in REM (and associated with it so called REM rebound). On average non-REM-REM cycle lasts around 70-90 minutes for adults and cycles about 5 times per night (8h). I would recommend putting 8 hours if you can. 🙂 I do not think there's anything wrong with your tracker per se.
