Fitbit Update: 9/09

 Hi, Versa Fam!

Thanks so much for your patience while our team continues to investigate and work on this issue. We're still working on this and I hope to have more information for you all very soon.

As soon as there is a fix in place, I will make sure to announce that here. Please stay tuned and subscribed to this thread for updates.

Fitbit Update: 7/25

Hey, everyone!

I know many of you are wondering what the status on this bug is and I'm here to reassure you this is still being worked on by our team. For anyone still getting ghost steps on their Versa's, we are definitely working towards a fix. I don't have a timeline for when the fix will be released, so I appreciate everyone's patience for the time being. I recommend if possible, placing your Versa on a different flat surface without any vibrations to prevent the extra steps.

Fitbit Update: 6/21

Hi, everyone!

Sorry to hear that some of you are accumulating unwanted steps while charging your Versa's. Thank you for taking the time to report this issue here on the forums. Our team is aware of this affecting some of you and is working towards a fix on a future firmware release.

Thanks for your patience for the time being. Smiley Happy

Best Buy only offers a 15 day warranty on most products as they are a "grey market" retailer.  Many products sold at Best Buy will not have the factory warranty and sold "as-is".  Maybe you can return it to FitBit directly for a warranty exchange.  Contact FitBit customer service.

I bought my Blaze from Target and had a warranty issue in which FitBit warranty exchanged the product directly.

Mine was preorder on fitbit.com. That was the original one. Fit bit has replaced it twice...

Is the new Fitbit Android update to fix this?

It does not appear to fix the issue for those that have been struggling with this issue.

Day #5: so far my Fitbit versa has worked perfectly, minus what happened on day #3 earlier in this post.  I will be charging my watch again probably tonight or see if the ghost steps appear, so far all charging that I have done have not created any ghost steps.

I will post again tomorrow on day #6 and day #7 but the if I have not experienced any ghost steps I will only monitor and not waste your time posting unless something happens. Have a great fit day to you all.

My dad said if his company had a bug like this, they would have to fix it in a day or they'd be fired. It's been almost two months, so where is this "prompt" fix? What did I pay for?

This is really frustrating.  My Versa has never advanced like this before. Now it's doing it constantly.  I just purchased a month ago. Do you have an update on when this issue will be fixed?

I'm sure the reply from fitbit will be the same as its been for aver 2 months now... they are aware and working for a "prompt" solution... and the appreciate our patience.

Can you tell me when your versa started to do it’s advancing? How long did you have it before it started advancing?

My first one started a few weeks after I got it... the second and third did it from day one.

Okay day #6, last night I had to charge my Versa it was at 27% and took a little over an hour to charge to 100%.  I made sure I synced my watch with the software to log the steps prior to charging.  I noticed after it was charge I had gained about 60 ghost steps, but no more then that.

This is morning I was getting ready for my usual walk and noticed I had about 200 more ghost steps that had added to my count about 30 minutes after I woke up.  Have not noticed any real increases throughout this day.  I am at 10,508 right now and it is about 3:00pm in the afternoon.

I am am now watching it pretty close to see if I start gaining ghost steps more regularly.  This has been the first time I had seen ghost steps appear since I have received it and put it on a week ago tomorrow.

i tell you one thing, if my ghost steps star to appear more with a large gain by the end of the week, I won’t wait, I will return it for credit.

Will report in tomorrow for the 7th day of news that on ghost steps.

How many does it record at one time?

I am shocked that you are on your third Versa, quite unbelievable that nothing has been done other than ship you another Versa, do you know what Model you have now that is going wacko?

I know my first weird thing was the first full day I wore mine I had received 9 Floors but that was all I noticed till today.

I preordered the special edition. I get ghost steps almost every day. I let fitbit keep sending me replacements and I passed the return window becouse I trusted in the company. Now when I call support, they just tell me to wait for an update. If I had been told that it would takes months to fix, I would have returned it and purchased it after the issues had been solved.

All 3 have been the special edition.

This is more and more frustrating every week. The amount of ghost steps that my Versa accumulates while charging seems to be increasing. Today when I left it on the charger for about 1 hour to get to 100% battery I gained a whopping 12,000 steps.

Since I have the charge my Fitbit weekly this causes conflicts with every "weekly total" email that I receive and ruins every weekly competition that I'm in with friends (which I don't even participate in since it isn't fair.)

I'm done with Fitbit after this. The lack of movement on this issue, omission of any details of what the problem is actually caused by, and the fact that the phone support team seems unfamiliar with this issue are all unacceptable to me. My first FitBit (Charge HR) functioned much more reliably from this and it's quite a bit older.

What model do you have, it is listed under Settings, About, Regulatory Info, look for model number.  Mine is  FB505.

I have also seen that when they released the fitbit ionic, the same issue happened to many and most posted here, so it looks like this is an ongoing issue, I also saw ghost steps were reported with Apple Watch series 1 and a few with Samsung Gear  2.  Looks like a really common issue. Guess you have to ask yourself how important is it with the steps, why I say this is I mostly go by mileage and calorie burn which always seems to be right on target.  I compared both these statistics against my older Fitbit Charge 2, my Samsung Gear and against actual mileage.  So cost is an issue, when you pay this much for something they advertise to be correct and it CLEARLY isn’t, refunds should be issued!

Just the same canned response, nothing has been fixed for over two months.
I haven't worn my Versa for 7 weeks and have "earned" multiple badges.
What a disappointment. If this is the "prompt fix" they are talking about,
it is greatly distressing and disappointing.

4 weeks. Got it for Mother's Day and haven't worn it since before Father's
Day.

After returning my Versa because of the ghost steps, I'm back to using my Fitbit One.  Fitbit in their infinite wisdom has discontinued the One without offering a new model so when my One dies or I lose it, I'll most likely be done with Fitbit.  I keep hoping Apple will offer a model with longer battery life.

Thank you for your response No this is not acceptable.  People have been asking about this problem for over 6 months.  There should be some type of solution by now other than put it in driving. Therefore, I will keep bringing it up until I see an improvement to the problem.
These things cost too much money to not work the way they should.

I've had it about a month and have charged it before but yesterday was the first time its happened.  This morning the same thing except I had it on my bed whe I took a shower and it had advanced.  No one was on my bed. No pets or anything. So I dont understand what that was about.
