I used to own a fitbit charge 2 till it just died after 5 months. I'm tempted to buy versa as am looking for a good tracker for running and swimming. As it doesn't have built in GPS and if I didn't take my phone on a run how accurate is the step count? Also does it track swim laps accurately  as I had a samsung gear fit 2 pro which always added extra laps?

I'd consider a different watch. Why? My wife  got a Versa for Christmas and today I have the joy off setting it up. Started at 9:00 AM and after multiple tries around 10:30 AM got it connected at which time a firmware update popped up, that went ok (10 minutes) one complaint is that they don't tell you to reboot your phone after these updates and they should otherwise the two may not pair together... DUH. Next up the APP tell me there is an update, so I start the install, it is now 3:47 PM and it is about 15% done. Like the Iconic I own nothing seems to be easy with the Versa, everything is a battle and this is a brand new watch. So, waiting till 6:00 PM and if it's not done we are returning it and we are done with Fitbit and their many, many sorry excuses and pages and pages of not solving user problems, and horrible battery life!!!! Buy a Garmin or a Samsung, I've never had the kind of issues with either that I've had with Fitbit.
