I tried it on my desk and its similar ... however when you lift the watch it then shows --

so i think its reading something from the desk or paper (which i put on)

May be experience members will comment whats happening here.

Well yes, mine does something like that.  Way back in the day when I wanted to with from a One to a wrist device, I called support because I hold on to the treadmill when I am on it.  I was told, don't worry, just put it in your pocket.  That was before the days of heart rate monitors.  Now, I have put several of the devices with heart rate monitors in my pocket when I walk on the treadmill, and they record a heart rate, give me active minutes, and usually tell me I have reached my activity goal.  This goes for the Versa as well.
