Ring Camera Motion Detected Notification

As some of us know that we can not get Ring Camer App notifications to get pushed to the Versa 2. I have called tech support and they all are aware of it and working on it. In the meantime, I found a workaround by using the Alexa app. In the Alexa app add your cameras to the app under devices. Under routines add a new routine click on the following order listed below the only caveat is you will get two notifications one from the ring app that only shows up on your phone and not your device. Plus Alexa pushing a notification to the watch and the phone. Make sure under the Fitbit app that you have selected to receive notifications from Alexa

  • when this happens
  • device
  • your camera
  • motion
  • select detected
  • next
  • add action
  • messaging
  • notifications
  • Enter your message
  • next and save or edit the anytime to your schedule

I'm seeing various workarounds for almost every model but mine.  Is the Inspire HR the peasant model?  Alexa pairs with Ring just fine.  It is paired with Fitbit as well.  Alexa will announce if there is motion at the Front Door (camera name).  But it will not notify Fitbit as it does not vibrate nor text.  Alexa will tell Fitbit when it is guarding my home when I am away and again when I disarm upon return.  It vibrates to alert me and displays message.  Fitbit will vibrate and give me a phone icon when my phone rings as well as alert me to text messages.  So WTF??  How to get them all to talk to one another...does anyone have a spare AWAC I can borrow?

That option is not available on the poor man's Fitbit.  If this isn't repaired by the time my free Premium subscription is up, so is my Fitbit.

In the Fitbit app need to go into notifications and select Amazon Alexa then follow the instructions from the first post on how to get Alexa to transmit the ring notifications

I can't believe with the age of this thread the issue is still unresolved.  This is insane!  I may have to try the Alexa work-around, but for a premium watch like the Versa2 you'd think this would be resolved by now.  When I reached out to tech support on two different occasions they acted like they never heard of this issue before and had me doing basic and mundane tasks and then eventually just stopped responding when their basic attempts all failed.

So many basic issues - I'm starting to think the software developers for this manufacturer are sub-standard.  It's unheard of that you have to set separate alarms through the watch or Fitbit s/w and that the phone cannot push an active alarm to the watch.  Don't get me started on lack of bank support for Fitbit Pay - some threads are 3+ years old and still unresolved.  Ok, ok, my rant is over.  I'm just glad it's not just me having issues with the Ring Doorbell/Camera app.

Another Fitbit app update came down to my phone from Google Play a little while ago and guess what? NOTHING! Another app update and notifications from the RING App STILL DO NOT WORK!!! Amazing development team!  And the main Google app's notifications still do not work on the watch either. (ok, my rant is officially over)

Okay so my phone is on DND (iOS13.6), followed these instructions, but I did not get the notification on my Versa? It works perfectly when I am not in DND..... really I just want to get a motion alert at night when I am sleeping. Come on RING!

A workaround I found that does not involve Fitbit crap is Ring will talk to Alexa.  I have an Echo Show in my living room and an Echo Dot in my bedroom.  If there is motion both Alexa devices will announce motion alerts.  Why Fitbit can't figure that out I blame on the company.  Oh!  My Fitbit WILL announce when I change mode from, say, Home to Away.  It sends an alert to my Fitbit that Ring Mode setting has been changed.  Yeah, I know.  I just did that.  Why not alert Fitbit for Motion detection?  Seems like such a simple engineering or code-writing exercise.  I do not understand why they do not partner.

That whole "they are working on it" part cracks me up, a year later and they still haven't found a solution. Btw, I'm pretty sure the issue is with Ring, I just got the Fitbit Sense but before this watch I had a Pebble Time and Ring notifications didn't come through on that watch either.

Thank you for this work around! It's so nice to finally have Ring notifications on my wrist! I had tried something similar with IFTTT but the notifications were usually very delayed through that service. So far the alexa routine alerts are instant.

My blaze I had an option to get text alerts from ring to my Fitbit but now on the updated sense I get crap 😞 I don’t like it. I need the alerts on my watch because my phone isn’t glued to me 24/7

I got it working for me and my sense. Make sure the ring notifications is selected in the Fitbit app. My notifications wasn’t opening hence I couldn’t select it. Now everything is working 🙂
