Screen is completely dead - Versa

Hi,

Reaching out in the hope someone can help!

I've had my Versa since Jan 2019 and it's worked really well in all that time.  On Wednesday this week whilst mid exercise, I felt it vibrate and when I looked down the screen was going crazy.  Instead of showing my workout stats, it was jumping through all the menus by itself.  I immediately ended the exercise recording and did a soft reset - which worked, but I noticed the screen (Bitmoji clock face) wasn't displaying 100% right (it was a bit off centre) and the battery level dropped very quickly.

When working out on Thursday, I realised the swipe functions were all becoming very unresponsive.  Resetting didn't resolve this, so I changed the clock face back to a simple 'Photograph' one on Friday in the hope this might have an effect.

This morning (Saturday) I woke up to a flickering screen.  Although taps to the screen work (to switch between steps, HR e.t.c.), swiping does not.  I performed several soft resets, all of which didn't resolve the issue.  So then, I did a Factory reset (using the buttons as I couldn't access the menu).

All restarted and updated with the default clock face, but the flickering continued. Swiping still didn't work.  The Fitbit continued to record my steps e,t,c for the day however, so I kept it on.

Late afternoon, the screen went off.  It's now completely black and totally unresponsive.  I can't do a soft reset or factory reset as the button holds fail to bring up the Fitbit logo.

The bizarre thing is that I think it's still recording.  I've got green lights on the revers of the watch and it still seems to synch to the App OK.

Any ideas on how to get it working again properly please?  I'm absolutely stumped!  Has anyone else encountered similar?

Thanks very much 😀

I am just now experiencing the same problem. I started with the Versa 2 in 2020 when my Blaze 2 died after four years of service. Just yesterday, it flickered and died. The watch is still recording my steps, and I can follow it on the dashboard on my phone, but the face dial and all the swiping features do not work. Did you try to contact the Fitbit Service department? Thanks.

Hi, sorry to hear that. After reading similar posts to mine which didn’t result in any help from Fitbit support, I gave up and bought an Apple Watch instead.

Thanks for your sympathetic response to my message. Shortly after I posted
it, and after struggling for a while to find the Fitbit help line, I
reached a competent Fitbit employee who told me that my problem was with a
new system upgrade that was taking longer than anticipated to download.
Then she skillfully marched me through the procedures after asking me to do
some simple tests. Ultimately, I had to go the Google PLay Store and
download the App and then select a new clock face (which now includes a
blood oxygen level meter). I did, and a couple of minutes later I was up
and running again. BTW, the watch itself never stopped recording my steps
because I checked it on my phone. The battery continued to work and to be
recharged throughout.

I hope this account is of use to some of the many who may be going through
the same ordeal.
