I have turned off All Day Sync and Always connected and cannot see any difference in the experience other then better battery life. Am I missing something here?
Also, there is a "GPS" setting on the browser interface that I turned off. It is not available on the phone interface. In any event, I see no difference in anything either way. I would like to use the device to track cycling in the good weather, will I need this turned on if I have my phone with me (which I always do)?

All Day Sync and Always Connected are useful to folks who have connection issues for notifications. I have mine turned off as well and have no issues with notifications. It does mean, however, that your stats on the Versa will not get uploaded until you open the app to sync or if you are near a PC with the dongle and Fitbit Connect on.
As for the GPS switch on the website - I have not tried tracking a walk with that switch off. I'll have to do that and see what happens. In any case, you will need to have the phone with you if you want a GPS track of your activity as the Versa does not have an internal GPS.

Thank you, great explanation and kind of what I thought it was about. I typically open the app 2-3 times a day at a minimum, and because I can see the stats on the watch (as opposed to my Fitbit Flex 2) I don't really need to have it syncing in the background. If there is no GPS on the watch then I see no need to have that turned on either.
For me battery is the main concern, I am used to my old Pebble which gave me an easy 5 days so I would like to get that, which with all this off appears to be the case. I also turned off "quick display".
It appears I am getting notifications as well.

@jtpryan I tried walking with the GPS switch off. Below I show results of walking the dog the same path (approx 1 mile) using Auto recognize, manual track with GPS off and manual track with GPS on. The manual track with GPS off appears similar to the auto recognized walk but it does give total miles and pace.
