Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact compatibility with Versa

Not sure if this would be the correct place to post, but if this post had been here earlier, I would have been spared a lot of stress and panic.

I just bought my new phone today, already owning the Versa with an old supported phone. I hadn't thought to check the list of supported phones, just the Versa requirements, which my new phone fulfils, thinking everything would be alright.

It wasn't.

Couldn't get it to sync or anything else for that matter. After a long perilous journey through google, I found someone with an XZ model who had problems syncing to his/her car. Someone had been so kind to suggest that if one signed up for developer, one could change the Bluetooth AVRCP version. My new phone was automatically on 1.6, however after changing to 1.4 and rebooting the phone, it is now syncing with the Versa and SMS-notifications are working. I've not yet had time to test anything else.

I'm not guaranteeing this works for anyone else, however if you find yourself in my situation it is definitely worth trying out.

Hello @coeliyan, let me give you a warm welcome to the Community! That is correct my friend, since the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact isn't a compatible device, I can't guarantee that the compatibility issues won't appear, but as I always say to users, they can follow the troubleshooting in this help article: Why won't my Fitbit device sync. It might work. 😉 And as I can see, the tips you tried, worked perfectly for you, which is great. Thanks for taking the time to follow and sharing them, I'm pretty sure that they will be helpful for other users too.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks Coeliyan

Just got my new Fitbit Versa and failed to synch with my Sony Xperia XZ1 compact, despite several attempts. Inspired by your post I activated Developers option in the systems many on the mobile and changed AVRCP version from 1.6 to 1.4. After restarting the mobile the synch now works as it should.

Would be great if this information could be added to the Fitbit Versa device compatibility list, saving time for others in the same situation.

Hey @Viktor.berggren, it is great to see new members around! I appreciate you have let us know that after restarting your Sony Xperia XZ1, it is syncing with your Versa. As you already know, this phone model hasn't been officially released as a compatible device, as you can see in the compatibility list from Fitbit. However, it seems that yours is working, which is good, that means that probably our team is working on it and is under testing now, ans because of that reason too, I can't guarantee that it'll work without inconveniences.

Let me know if you have further questions or comments!

Thank you for the info. I have had my Versa for about 4 months or so with no issues then it would never sync. I did the developers thing and it synced right away. Thanks again

It looks like Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact is on the compatability list now, can I assume that there problems are fixed?

Hey @Ptsnielsen, let me give you a warm welcome to the Community! Well, the Sony Xperia XZ1 doesn't appear as a compatible device. The one that has been officially released as compatible, is the Sony Xperia Z1, as you can see on the Fitbit list. So that being said, I can't guarantee that the setup, syncing, notifications and GPS issues are already fixed on that phone model, but please be patient while our team still working on order to expand the devices compatible with Fitbit trackers and watches.

If you have further questions or comments, let me know!

I see.

But the Xperia XZ2 (2018) is compatible, so wouldn't it make sense if the model in between should also be?

Hey @Ptsnielsen, I appreciate your response! Yes, get your point, but it seems like the Sony Xperia XZ1 doesn't have the same specifications as it's successor; I could say that the Bluetooth might be not the same, so that is why it won't connect with Fitbit devices. In this case, I can only ask you to be patient while our team is working in order to expand the compatible devices list.
