Hi, I have just treated myself to a relatively expensive versa but am surprise at it's inacuracy with the step counter. I am right handed and my versa is on my right hand. I have a shaky right leg and when I'm sitting and only my leg is shaking due to nurve damage the versa counts steps. I have picked up 200 hundred steps just by sitting and watching tv for half an hour! Can anyone help ms to resolve this?

@Yaz123 Welcome to the forum! You can try setting your Wrist Placement setting to Dominant in Fitbit mobile app if you haven't done so yet.

@Yaz123 can you ease try wearing the tracker on the left hand so we can test it? Also, please keep the Dominant Setting .

@Yaz123 I know that sometimes the trackers go nuts when driving, but you were a passenger and it was in your pocket. So, unless the road was bumpy or you were in the truck, bus etc, that's a bit much. Just a side note, if you walk and put your Fitbit in the pocket, it will count the steps anyways. It can recognize the movement quite well. Perhaps you could try restoring it to factory defaults (performing a factory reset)? This will wipe your Versa, so please sync first. You will also need to delete your tracker from your Paired Devices list in your phone Bluetooth settings. You can perform factory reset by going to Settings on your Versa, scrolling down to About and tapping Factory Reset. Once Versa resets to factory defaults, you will need to set it up again by adding it as a replacement device in the Fitbit mobile app.
If you really have issues with Fitbit adding ghost steps while driving, those can be removed afterwards. To do so, you can manually log Driving activity in your Fitbit mobile app (or Dashboard on Fitbit.com) for the time period when you accumulated the steps. There's also an app called Drivebit that automates the process.

@Yaz123 I'm glad I can share my experiences with you. If they help at least a little, that makes me happy. Versa is by no means perfect, but it's a really nice tracker. Have you tried other features? Notifications? Apps? Workouts? I think if it keeps adding steps while on the bus, you could use the Drivebit app. But, personally I treat the tracker as a device to highlight the trends. For instance, I use my hands a lot. Do lots of hand-based workouts too and that may add extra steps. Setting to Dominant (I'm left-handed) definitely helped, because i would register extra 3000 steps a day on average. My point is you will probably be able to know your average margin of error and you can set your step goals accordingly. You can still watch the trend - how your step count and activity improves over time. 🤗

Just got the versa 2 for Christmas. Steps are being added when I am sitting at my desk. It is on my non dominant hand. Trying to find sensitivity level but unable. Seems to give way more steps than I'm taking.
Any suggestions would be helpful and I will try the ones on here.
Thank you!

I'm facing a similar issue. It's counting ghost steps. The steps are inaccurate like it's adding ghost steps. And then I went to bed at 287 steps and woke up to 518 steps. And I probably only really made 100 steps during my sleep because I got up to go to the bathroom once or twice and then I had to do something else. With My Alta HR , on the days I had work by the end of the night, I usually clock in somewhere about 7 k steps or a little over 7k steps. But I don't usually reach 8 k steps or even 9 k steps.
While wearing the Versa 2 that I got for Christmas, I worked 4 hours last night. I'm on my feet the whole time. But by the time I got home and walked around a little, I got to 8 k. Then while sitting I managed to reach 9 k steps.
Changing in the fitbit app to dominant hand to see if it works.
