My phone Fitbit app doesn't update steps while I am out walking. O try syncing but it doesn't update. It is kind of a pain because when I go out for a walk I turn on the excersise walking app on my fitbit Versa watch and that tells me how many steps I take while i am on my walk but not my total steps for the day.

It's great to see you around @GBpack2000. Thanks for letting me know that your Versa is showing the steps done while walking but not the whole day's steps. Sorry for the delayed reply.
As you mentioned, your Versa will show you the steps done in real time. Once, you sync your watch to the app it should show you all day's summary. If you want to see live data you will need to enable the all day sync option and always connected, this will improve the reliability of device syncing, notifications, and related Bluetooth connectivity.
Let me know how it goes. I'll be around if you need further assistance.

Thanks for getting back @GBpack2000. Sorry for the delayed reply.
It's good to hear that your all day sync option was already turn on.
Make sure the connected symbol appears next to your tracker image at the top of the dashboard. Note that when you first open the app, it may take a few moments to connect. When your tracker is connected, take a few steps and watch your step count increase to verify that real-time tracking is enabled.
You can watch your stats update in real time for all trackers except Fitbit Zip™ and Fitbit Ultra™. Note that you must keep the screen of your mobile device turned on and the Fitbit app in focus at all times. If you close the Fitbit app or put your device to sleep, you'll need to open the app again to see real-time data.
If you're using an Android device, heart rate information only appears in your live data if you also have call or text notifications enabled on your tracker. Can you let me know which mobile phone are you using?
Keep me posted.

Thanks for getting back @GBpack2000. I appreciate that you mentioned you have a Samsung S7 phone.
I've shared this with my team and they are investigating this, because live data isn't available for users that have a phone with Android 9 Pie. In the meantime, please try restarting your phone and check again if you have this option.
I'll be around if you need further assistance.

Thanks for getting back @GBpack2000. Data automatically syncs to the Fitbit app throughout the day. For best results, keep all-day sync turned on.
If you turn off all-day sync, we recommend syncing at least once a day. Each time you open the Fitbit app, your device syncs automatically when it's nearby. You can also use the Sync Now option in the app at any time. Have you tried just doing the above and getting your information updated?
Keep me posted!
