Steps not syncing correctly

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

2 days this week I have had zero steps in the app, even though one of the days shows my gym workout with steps under exercise. Today only half of my steps synced from the Versa to the actual app. It is constantly not syncing well, even if it says synced.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Versa multiple times, tried just turning off and on, etc. so frustrated. My old HR2 was honestly workin fine but I liked the look of the Versa because my HR2 was looking worn. Very frustrated.

Question: was it partial sync? I mean did all steps sync after some time? I noticed Fitbit app has become wacky. It syncs only partial stats, or let me rephrase, versa syncs but the app shows synced data in weird increments. I always need to either tap calories, active hours, steps tiles for them to update. Or simply wait patiently a while. It almost seems like Fitbit app doesn't refresh often enough or doesn't pull down the data from servers.

No it never synced the steps and it has happened again. It quit syncing Sunday and I had to delete the app and restart multiple times today to get it connected. It only reflects a small portion of Sunday steps, and no steps for Monday and it finally connected today but no history.

Hmmm so what did it sync from Monday etc? I mean I'm assuming your watch is counting steps and calories as seen on the display. So, how do you know it synced. Connected not necessarily means synced. When you tap on the watch icon in the Fitbit app (top right corner) and scroll down to last synced what does it say?

@Jsanji Could you please verify a few things:

  • are the heart rate sensor lights blinking?
  • can you see active minutes on the Versa itself? Open Today app (swipe up on the main screen) and take a look at the active minutes.
  • is the heart rate shown on the Versa in the Today app (swipe up) or does it show "--"?
  • are the stats missing only from Fitbit mobile app or are they missing from your Dashboard on Fitbit.com as well?
  • when was the last sync? Please tap on the Versa icon in the Fitbit app and scroll down to the sync section.
  • what's your phone model and OS?

@Jsanji Knowing the answers to other questions I asked (especially the one about the sync, phone model and OS) might be really helpful. From the answers you did provide, it looks like your tracker does not sync properly. Please try the following:

    1. Unpair (remove) Versa from your phone's bluetooth settings
    2. Uninstall the Fitbit mobile app
    3. Reboot your phone and install Fitbit mobile app. Do not pair in your phone's bluetooth settings
    4. Reboot your Versa by pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons until Fitbit logo flashes
    5. Login to Fitbit mobile app
    6. Grant all permissions and sync.

The trick here is to not pair in phone Bluetooth settings but rather let the Fitbit mobile app do that.

Additional tips if sync issues persist: If you have Wifi set up, go to Fitbit mobile app and remove it, then sync your Versa. I noticed that it causes issues for me. If you have other Bluetooth devices paired with your phone, forget them. One of them might be causing issues. Also, make sure Always Connected and All day sync are enabled.

@Clayzone How many steps did it record before you went to bed? Try rebooting your tracker several times by pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons until fitbit logo appears.
