Steps per hour not syncing

Versa says I got the hour. Even went over steps and did manual sync before hour was up. Fitbit app won’t acknowledge it if it happens in the last 10 min. What the heck? Is Versa not communicating in time? Stupid that it doesn’t auto sync since I have turned on that feature. I have to open the app to get it to sync.

Having similar issues today.  My watch says 10 out of 11 active hours.  App is only showing 1.  And during the timeframe it is not recognizing active hours, I now also noticed it isn’t accurately tracking steps or calories either. 1BB9DBC9-AAC0-40E6-9CD2-3FC6225AB921.jpeg

My versa is doing the same thing. Vera bas 9 of 11 and phone had 3 out of 11

I found that when it is not syncing I take a lysol disinfectant wipe and clean the connectors and it starts syncing daily steps again. Maybe this is the issue. I only remove the watch when I need to charge it. Maybe soap clogs the connection after repeated showers.

Royce2019(Jogger),
Thanks for the information, I will try that and let you know how it works.

Has this still not been fixed yet? Come on Fitbit, get the finger out! I’m having problems with this today, charge 3 says 9 of 9 but iOS app says 8 of 9. Have logged out, rebooted phone, rebooted device. This is ridiculous, you expect something which costs a fair few quid to work properly.

It is now November 5 and nothing has changed.  Maybe now Google will make things better.

Today my Versa is once again not syncing hours with 250 steps with the app on my iPhone. I've exhaustively tried every fix recommended since I started using Versa in April this year and I've come to the conclusion that:

1. It's a bug and nothing I did wrong.

2. If you've lost the hours, you've lost them, it never syncs and puts them back.

I know it's a small thing but it upsets me no end. Paid a lot for Versa and this one obvious thing not working makes me wonder what else is not right.

This was a problem back in March 2019. I got a Fitbit Charge 3 for my birthday and it regularly skips an hour on the app that shows on the Fitbit. I am REALLY frustrated. Yes, I know my watch shows it, but as dumb as it seems, the Fitbit is supposed to be motivating, and it's discouraging and de-motivating when it doesn't work. I set a goal, for instance, of having all 14 hours show up for 4 days straight. Well, forget that. It will miss them. Somebody else showed a screen-shot, so I don't need to: today, I've had my 250 steps every hour, but it will not show the first hour (7-8 a.m.).

I might switch to some other device; I've had this for 3 months and the problem has never corrected. I've done all the work suggested, including the time-consuming "figure out why your Fitbit doesn't synch" -- but that's not the problem. It seems to synch just fine, except for the steps-per-hour feature. It's a glitch in the program or the hardware, and it looks like y'all have never been able to figure it out. My suggestion would be to take it off all new Fitbits until you figure it out; I wouldn't be frustrated if it wasn't a feature, and if you can't get the feature right, it seems to me you should not have it at all. I love the Fitbit, but this glitch is too frustrating, so I am checking out other products that will do the same thing as Fitbit.

Come on Fitbit fix this issue. I've had my Fitbit versa lite since November 2019 and now it has stopped syncing the steps per hour in the app. And according to all the complaints this has been going on 2018. Please fix this issue!!! Exercise is one of the things keeping us sane in this pandemic situation

I am experiencing this issue as well, FitBit. My Charge 3 is new out of the box as of two weeks ago. For the first week, it tracked hourly goals perfectly. This week it is dropping random hours that are recorded by the device as achieved.

My Alta HR *NEVER* had this issue. Perhaps this could provide a clue?

A year later and I am having the same issue.  Fitbit Versa 2 tracked my steps per hour this morning, but phone app shows zero.  Rebooted, no luck.

Is there another problem with Fitbit not syncing the hourly steps ??? Didn’t sync at all yesterday . Did all the usual things to reset , log out , Bluetooth on and off etc ... still not working  ... updates are up to date any ideas ?

Same issue here.  Versa 2 shows 7 of 9 so far today, iphone shows 3 as does app.  I also experience random drops of hours during the day..watch has 9/9 and random hours are dropped on the app.  Have done all the restarts, reconnected with bluetooth etc. r Still no change.  the number of problems I have had with this tracker, for the amount it cost, is frustrating.  looking at an apple watch.

Hi, yes me too. I am looking at the apple watch. I have previously not
considered as I like the sleep tracking which apple did not have.
Apparently the new one does, just not quite as good an interface, but I am
sick of the issues with not tracking my steps correctly. Fitbit should look
into this issue in depth, otherwise they will lose a lot of customers.

FitBit - reading this thread and having the same problem has been super frustrating.

Mods replying every year or so saying that they're deeply concerned and apologetic and working on a solution.

Come on. 3 years and zero transparency as to what this issue is, even though it's such a simple little thing.

I'm getting the problem on a versa 3 by the way. Got it new this week and it's not worked properly so far at all - exactly same as others have described.

Fitbit don't seem to care. My charge4 has just started exhibiting this behavior despite being up to date with firmware and software.  9 hours out of 9 for the 250+ steps yesterday, the app reports that I only did 7 of 9.  6 of 6 so far today, the app says 4 of 6.

Shoddy hardware (see the charge 4 latches thread here - https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-4/Charge-4-piece-that-latches-to-wristband-broke/td-p/4591186...) and shoddy software.

Will not spend any more of my money on their products.  Time to move to a competitor, maybe a Garmin or an Apple watch.

Here we are in 2022 on a brand new, fully updated Charge 5 with the newly installed Android app and this problem still has not been addressed. Very poor showing for Fitbit and now for Google, too. 0 of five stars for responsiveness.

Best Answer

Agreed. I have a Versa 2 that randomly last week stopped syncing steps per hour. I reached out with no response. Nothing I've found on these forums works.

Same here- new Charge 5 (after charge 4 broke twice- they replaced it free the first time) -and I've lost data on hourly steps and sleep. Come on, Fitbit!

Same problem here.  Won't sync step hours.  It syncs the total steps, though!  So I've got over 4,500 steps so far for the day, but have been "Still" since 10:00 a.m.?  LOL!  I've tried resetting, cleaning the contacts.  Step hours aren't syncing with app or desktop Dashboard.  ARGH!
