Strava corrupting step count

I've recently hooked up Strava with my Versa. I do a lot of walking so thought it would be good to track my walks. Twice now my step count has corrupted after using the Strava app. The first time it happened I thought I had imagined it, I noticed my step count was 1000-ish less when I finished than it had been part way round. Today I did a 4 mile walk, after a fairly active morning, and part way round my Versa notified me that I had reached my daily goal of 11000 steps - great, I thought . . .  but then this evening, I noticed that my versa was showing 10647, so somewhere along the way I have lost a load of steps. Anyone else had this, or know why this happens?

I haven't used Strava, but you might take a look in the Third Party Integrations Board where are probably many more posts about Strava.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I went for a 4 mile walk yesterday  - I'd been fairly static all as was working at my laptop so my step count all day was very low. I used the exercise function on my fitbit versa - selected walk and off I went. Part way through the walk my fitbit let me know I'd reached my 11000 step target.

When I checked my stats before I went to bed, my steps has shot up to 21000 - awesome I thought - but not true!

I removed the strava app from my phone  last year - and have only just started using the exercise function on my watch. When I used it for a walk last weekend and a couple of runs in the week, it's been pretty much spot on  - so what happened yesterday? Any thoughts?
