Stuck in a set up loop

I recently bought a versa lite, and I’ve been trying to set it up. After getting through the initial 12hr download and update, when I opened the app I was then told it requires a further update to finish set up. Fine, go ahead. 
During this final update, the Bluetooth connection is repeatedly dropping out, in a consistent once-a-minute way. I’ve googled this problem and have tried to troubleshoot it: 

1. Going into my phone Bluetooth settings and clicked ‘Forget this device’

2. Restarting my phone

This has not solved the issue and in fact has now removed my ability to edit the Bluetooth connection via my phone. I googled this issue and it says it’s due to the connection being set up by the app. So next I tried:

3. Deleting and reinstalling the app

Also has not worked. So my final attempt was:

4. Go into the app and click ‘Remove this Versa Lite’ from the app itself.
However I get the message ‘Your device is busy updating. Please try again when the update is done.’
But the update will never be done because the connection keeps dropping out!! Therefore I am stuck in a loop with an issue I cannot see how to rectify. If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.

UPDATE

It stopped downloading the update for whatever reason (probably because it wasn’t able to make any progress) so I was able to remove the device from my profile.

I then went through the set up process again. Yet again I got the message that I needed to do a final finishing up update before I could use it. Went ahead and I am stuck in the same loop AGAIN! 

This is remarkably frustrating and honestly not worth my time. If a solution can not be found I will be returning it.
