Surprised to fix Wi-Fi

I changed my Wi-Fi router this week and lost connection to my Versa.  I tried all the suggestions that I read here to fix this without success.  The Versa scan would not see any of my router's 2.4GHz Wifi.  The Vera kept bringing up "if you have a problem with Bluetooth do this....".   This was made all the more frustrating because there is a lack of clarity from Fitbit about just when Bluetooth is required for the Versa?  I don't mean when its communicating with my Flyer but when Bluetooth is required after the first setup?

Anyhow I had been using the Fitbit app on my Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 which I had running on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and thought "Oh I wonder if I should try to get the Versa to recognise 2.4GHz wi-fi on my Honor 10 phone".   As soon as I did this the Versa connected!   Perhaps someone could say why I could connect with the phone and not the tablet, when both were happily working online with 2.4GHz and three feet from the router.

Until the versa and ionic fitbits did not have wifi.

Wifi I think was added to allow faster updates for music and firmware, so yes there are times that the computer is able to connect directly to wifi.

However for every day use, it would not be practical for the phone to connect directly to the tracker through wifi. Wifi is to power hungry and most phones lose internet access when the phone would be connected to the tracker

Was the tablet connected to the wifi that you where trying to setup the Versa to.

Bluetooth is used during the wifi setup.

Yes to the same 2.4GHz network.   I'm confused about the Bluetooth.  Why is it not possible to connect to the Versa using just Wi-Fi?   Also if Bluetooth is required what version of Bluetooth is essential?
