will a Versa sync with a LG Stylo 3 Plus phone? I keep being told it will but then being told it will not work at all.

I have LG Stylo 3, not Plus, running Android 7.0 that works fine.  No idea how the Plus part would affect it.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
