I guess it doesn't work as I would like it to. I have screws, rods and cages in my lower back so I primarily get my exercise using the elliptical; however, I don't want the twisting of my lower back that occurs when using the arm controls so I just place them in front of me. As a result it doesn't accurately reflect my steps/distance and I suppose burned calories.
I'm sure the produce is operating as designed, but just not the way I intended.

Hi @IAHank, welcome to the Community Forums! Sorry for the delayed reply.
Thanks for your post and the details that were shared on it. Let me share with you that because of the fact that the elliptical exercise is not an step based activity, if you do not select the activity directly from your device's exercise shortcuts you can experience some accuracy difficulties. That being said, I recommend you to check the information that's specified on our help article: How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device? for more information about exercise tracking.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.
