Any suggestions on what exercise I could use to track my kayaking? Would I use swimming?
I find the same issue in the winter to track snowshoeing & cross country skiing.

Hello @LynneCC and welcome to the Community.  The correct choice for kayaking is Outdoor Workout.  It's designed for non-step based activities like kayaking and downhill skiing.  There is a design error that makes it confusing -- Fitbit put the same icon on Outdoor Workout as it did for Interval workout.  BTW, the Charge 4 icon for Outdoor Workout  is a figure in a kayak. Fitbit treats this shortcut like Bike and Swim.  Distance doesn't get added to your daily distance total -- Fitbit only uses step based activity for daily distance total.  So don't use Outdoor Workout for your snowshoeing or cross country skiing.  I use Hike when I snowshoe.  I don't cross country ski, so I haven't been faced with that choice.  I would probably use Hike for that, too.
