I'm unable to receive notifications from Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 on my Fitbit Versa. In the Fitbit app it says "Notification service not running. Requires phone restart to enable notifications" But it doesn't get enabled even after multiple restarts.

@Marrrmaduke @I tried the options provided by you but it still shows the same message. The notifications are still not being received on my Versa.

@Karthik_krc Open Fitbit mobile app, tap on Versa's icon, scroll down to Notifications and open them. Tap on the 3 dots in the top right corner and disable notifications there. Sync. Reboot your phone, reboot your Versa, open Fitbit mobile app, Notification, 3 dots and enable Notifications. It will ask you to grant Fitbit Notification Service permission to run. Grant it and sync.

@Marrrmaduke Thanks, but despite following the steps you provided I still have the same problem. Infact when I re-enabled the notifications it did not ask me for granting access at all.

@Marrrmaduke. Actually you don't have the option of clicking on the 3 dots and enabling notifications. It always has "Disable notifications" only.

@Karthik_krc It should ask you once you enable the notifications for Call, text messages, calendar, email and apps. Let's try uninstalling Fitbit mobile app, rebooting phone, installing Fitbit mobile app, rebooting versa, logging in to Fitbit mobile app and granting all permissions again. In that exact order. Weird!

I think the issues is with using another email and calendar app, instead of one the comes pre-installed.
I had the same issue with my versa, and previously my charge 2. I uninstalled the email and calendar apps (I was using outlook) , and used the native ones instead. Now the notifications work just fine.

@Tutasaurus not really. Both outlook and other email clients (Gmail, bluemail, inbox) work on my Versa. I haven't tried Yahoo.

I just know this from my Xiaomi. I tried everything mentioned in previous posts on the community but nothing worked. When I reverted to my native email and calendar apps, the notifications just started coming though. Maybe its unrelated, but it seems to have done the trick for me.
My partner on the other hand has an S9, but indeed has no issues with using outlook or gmail instead of the native mail app. Could it just be a xiaomi issue?

@Tutasaurus honestly, I've seen so many weird phone manufacturer-related issues, that I wouldn't be surprised. Though, I don't think it's OP's issue. OP's problem was with Notification Service getting killed (not running). That's also a known thing with Xiaomi phones (and several other makes) - aggressive power management.

Hey, after countless hours fiddling around with it, it's safe to say i've finally got what is causing the issue. In order to fix it, go to Applications>Fitbit>switch on "AUTOSTART" and then close fitbit app and open once again. The notification reboot error will no longer be there. Hope this helps!

Turning on auto start and restarting my phone did the trick. At least for now
