Unlock with phone

My son set up his Versa - obviously not correctly - now has Unlock with phone message - but his versa and phone have no bluetooth connection to each other! Besides factory reset what else can we do?

@Tristsass Since your son's Versa has a PIN, your son must have set it up. Just to verify, it's still linked with his Fitbit account? When you open FItbit mobile app, can you see Versa's icon there? Also, what's the phone model and OS?

Yes still linked, can see account, can see versa image. andriod phone, has app on his ipad too

@Tristsass Which Android version? Which phone model? For now try this:

1. Unpair (remove) Versa from your phone's bluetooth settings
2. Uninstall the Fitbit mobile app
3. Reboot your phone and install Fitbit mobile app. Do not pair in your phone's bluetooth settings. The trick here is to not pair in phone Bluetooth settings but rather let the Fitbit mobile app do that. 
4. Reboot your Versa by pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons until Fitbit logo flashes
5. Login to Fitbit mobile app
6. Grant all permissions and sync
7. Now follow the these instructions to unlock with the phone.

@Tristsass Just a tip. If you ever lose bluetooth connection with Versa, the above procedure works as well. 😄 You can probably skip uninstalling and reinstalling fitbit app. Just remember to unpair from the phone's Bluetooth settings (do not remove from fitbit app!), reboot both devices, and sync. I hope your son enjoys his Versa! 🙂
