Versa 2 Connected GPS Not Working While Running

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have been using Fitbit devices for years to track my outdoor runs. I am currently wearing a Fitbit Versa 2 and do the same running route. In the past, the Versa 2 has not had any issues tracking my distance accurately. For the past few weeks, the Versa 2 displays connected GPS on the watch, but does not track the distance. It will track for less than half a mile, and then stop. Once I open the Fitbit app on my phone, it begins tracking again. I have researched through many other similar forums. My Google Pixel 7 has settings for Fitbit to have access to the location at all times, I have kept Do Not Disturb off, I have turned of my phone's WiFi. I additionally have Factory Reset my Versa 2, and still the same issue. I would appreciate some assistance with this issue, as it is important to my health and fitness.

Thank you.

Hi there @howyouben. Welcome to Community Forums.

Thank you for sharing this information and for the troubleshooting steps performed. I'd recommend you have the latest Fitbit Firmware and OS of your mobile device, then restart your device.

Fitbit devices use a 3-axis accelerometer to track movement. They calculate distance based on the device’s accelerometer data and stride length setting. Default stride length is based on your height and gender. If available, Fitbit devices use GPS data to calculate more precise distances. When you sync your device, our algorithm interprets the data from the device, and you see the distance traveled in the Fitbit app.
