Versa 2 Data Not Cleared Sync and Try Again

HI Folks -- i have searched for answers in the forums. There seems to be a consensus that this is a fundamental flaw in the FitBit Versa 2 and is not fixable. Still, since I bought it so recently (Feb 4 2020) I hope FitBit support can find a solution.

Phone:

  • iPhone 11 latest iOS 13.4.1
  • FitBit VERSA 2 bought 4 Feb 2020

Situation:

  1. yesterday my FitBit showed the following message:
    • Data Not Cleared Sync and Try Again 

Attempts to resolve thus far:

  1. rebooted iPhone
  2. iOS settings / Bluetooth: removed VERSA 2
  3. removed VERSA 2 from FitBit app
  4. deleted FitBit app
  5. re-installed FitBit app
  6. tried many combos of factory reset on the VERSA 2 
    -- does the VERSA 2 not have hardware reset?

Current status: still a useless brick displaying red cross of death with the "helpful" message: 
Data Not Cleared Sync and Try Again

Hi @FixMyFBPls yes the Versa 2 has a Hard(ware) restart. Swipe over to settings. Tap. Swipe to About. Tap. Then tap shutdown. Hold the left button to power up.

Did you try a factory reset or did this message simply apear?

Doing a search of the phrase Data not cleared brings up 3 solutions

Setup the tracker as if it is a new device

Do a factory reset

Contact fitbit.
