Versa 2 Fitbit pay problems

I have tried using Fitbit Pay at 5 different stores, and it isn't working. I hold the Versa to the tap part of the pinpad, the Versa will vibrate, and it just doesn't do anything. The payment doesn't work. I try it multiple times, holding the device directly on the pad; I get no error messages from either the pinpad or the Versa; it just does nothing. I take my card out, and tap works instantly. This is the same card linked to Fitbit Pay. 

 

Could this be a defective device?

Try removing the credit card in the Fitbit mobile app (Wallet section of the app) and then re-add it.
