Versa 2 | Not tracking exercise

Good Evening,

So i graduated this past December 2019 and as a graduation present I requested a fitbit Versa.

My fitbit is not working correctly, I purchased at it at Best Buy brand new.

On sunday I jogged for an hour, it split the exercise into 20 minutes of outdoor bike, 10 min walking, 20 minutes running etc.

Today again I jogged for an hour, it shows the steps count accurate but did not autorecognize the exercise.

I have an Iphone 11 with the newest ios. So far I have done the following:

• shut off the fitbit and power cycled

•reset back to factory settings

•forgot network settings and repaired to my phone via bluetooth

•manually recorded the exercise

•logged in via regular browser see dashboard shows 15,000 steps but no exercise logged

•toggled the autorecognize on and off

I am so disappointed in choosing this watch. If I would have known It was going to behave this erratic I would have invested into an apple watch instead. 😭

Worst graduation Present Ever 😭! Is anyone else experiencing this issue like everyday or do I have a defective watch?

Have you thought about using its multi sport mode and manualy starting the recording..

One thing you can do is disable any exercises that you do not do.

I had a problem last week one day where the exercise minutes kept resetting to 0 (had to be looking at the app on my iPhone to see it happening) -- is yours doing that, or is it not registering at all?.  It magically corrected itself the next day (without me doing anything to either the Versa 2 or my iPhone) but now I'm not getting the Premium-level detailed graph in sleep tracking.  I've contacted FitBit support via email and they're troubleshooting.

I have to say, I'm disappointed with the degradation of quality with the FitBit devices and the app.  I'm also almost to the point of going with an Apple Watch.  I've only had my Versa 2 for about 6 months.

@MiamiDani I'm not sure what is meant by "3rd bullet point up from the bottom", or in what screen your looking at? Personally I don't depend on auto exercise. If I pause at an intersection, eh take off at a different speed, it usually breaks my exercise up into different event types. Also auto detected exercises do not give a distance.

Did you find out anything about this? I am having the same issues. Have had my Versa 2 since December.  Everything worked perfectly until about a week ago.  It started recording my walks as Elliptical for about 3 days.  I turned off the auto detect for elliptical hoping that would solve it.  Then it stopped recording at all. I turned elliptical back on and still isn’t recording. I go for 3-4 30/45 minute walks a day and it isn’t recording any of them.  Ugh so frustrating!😩
