Versa 2 Screen Dimming

So firstly when I my mother was using this watch it buzzed and she looked at it and it wasn't showing anything on the screen. She has got a replacement for it but I have been tasked to try to fix it and get it working so I can have an upgrade from a Fitbit Blaze to the Fitbit Versa 2, so here is my problem. If you hover a light over the top of the Versa 2 you can see everything clearly on the screen but as soon as you remove the light the screen dims and goes to complete darkness, I suspect that this is something to do with the Dimming on the Versa, however I am not 100% Sure. I have been thinking about getting a replacement screen for this to see if this would fix it, but I am a bit reluctant to spend £53.14 for something that I don't know that is going to fix it. So I have approached the Fitbit Forums for some help. Anything is accepted, as I want to try it all before I give up on it and throw it in the bin.

Please can I have any help, I am thinking that it is either an Update that has done this as my Mother has said that it went black after she did an update, or if it is the screen, so please any dev/moderator from fitbit can you please add the feature to change auto-brightness off on the Fitbit Versa 2.
