Versa 2 Setting up issues

Got the Versa 2 yesterday and want to set it up but either of the below occur..

1. It doesn't connect to the device although charged and next to the phone

2. It connects asking for a number to pair and no number shown
3. It connects to the device after pairing but then loses connection and then says my Versa 2 isn't turned on
4. Won't find any wi fi networks so always have to go through blue tooth.

5. When I finally "update" the phone will lock and when I come back in it says connections lost and won't `find` my Versa 2.
Will I ever get going with this or do I take it back?

Why say " Is your device on" when it is on and next to it..
