Versa 2 Stopped Working

I have using various fitbit devices since 2017. Recently I have been using Versa 2. 
My Versa 2  was asking for software update which I didn't do deliberately. Reason behind this was me and my friend bought Versa 2 about same time. When he updated his Versa 2 it stopped working right then. So I was pushing it ahead as far as I can. It seems fitbit deleberately wants you to upgrade you to new device as soon as your old device is right out of warranty. Either they will push something through software to make it slow or designed in a such a way it stops when the warranty period is over.
