Versa 2 battery is draining quickly

Hi,

I’ve had my watch 2 years and it’s always been really good on battery life.

Over the last few days the battery has been awful. For example, I fully charged it last night, took it off charge at 11pm - woke up at 7am and my watch was on 75% whilst no notifications or apps were in use?

The battery is only lasting a day now as opposed to quite a good few days. What’s happening? Why has my watch only lasted 2 years?

Hi there, @BethanyW95. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Versa 2. I understand where your concern is coming from. @SunsetRunner Thanks for helping out!

As you may know, your Versa 2 battery should last up to 6 days. However, as with other electronic devices, the battery will depend on the features and how often they're used, such as the GPS, Spotify app or the Always-On display. While this doesn't mean that you shouldn't use them, please take into into consideration the conditions that impact your watch's battery.

That being said, I'd recommend to change the clock face to one designed by Fitbit and please confirm if you've followed the tips and recommendations to maximize your watch's battery life described here.

Hope that helps.

Hello @BethanyW95

Try restarting your Versa 2 to see if that helps. Just press and hold in the button on your Versa 2 until you see the Fitbit Logo then release the button. Your Versa 2 should vibrate letting you know the restart is finished.

Determining the lifespan on a Fitbit can be tricky and it depends on what article you find online covering the subject that you feel is more accurate then another. I’ve had my Versa 2 for 3 years this month. But I’ve seen others fail earlier and some last longer then mine has. I have noticed that the battery on mine needs charging more frequently as well.

Hopefully all that’s needed at this time is a quick restart of your Versa 2. Let me know if it seems to help.

Hi there,

my versa 2 is also about 3 years old. Up until recently, I would get ~5 days per charge. Suddenly, it has come down to less than 2 days per charge.

I wonder if the recent firmware update has caused a problem?

thanks!

Yes it did unfortunately.

Are they going to fix it I wonder?

Mine did the same.. losing charge in about 3-4 hours. I use it to tell the time.. no music nothing else at all, not even notifications! Then on 31st October it decided it would no longer sync and is now in the bin.

I tried everything.. it wouldn't pair, my phone would see it but the connection timed out.

Based on my experience it is dying.. good time to drop hints for festive gifts though.. 😄

My Versa 2 battery also started to battery-fade suddenly in late ‘22 also. Now it lasts at most 1.5 days.

BUT I like the specific Versa 2 features and the design, plus the attractive 3rd party leather band options. I’ve now worn through 3 Versa 2’s in under 5 years.

Based on history, now I budget to replace it appx every 1.5 yrs & feel fortunate if it makes it 2 yrs. But I switched to buy it via Amazon & very cost-effectively added an extended warranty at purchase.

The battery longevity drop = disappointing = and it may even be a (now Google-owner) strategy or system issue.

I changed the clock face and restarted the watch because it wouldn’t connect with my phon and was dying every day or two. Now I get four days instead of 1 but compared to before the update it’s still too frequent to have to charge.

That is like mine as well I think the battery is not very good after 2 years.

Now we are 2023; all the Versa 2 are getting old.  My battery lasts up to 2 or 3 days, dropping down performance quickly.

Is there a procedure to change the battery, or do we have to discard our Versas (programmed obsolesce) and buy a new one?

I had a Versa 4 bought as a christmas present to replace my useless Versa 2. The strap must be replaced as it is silicon and causes burn like marks on my arm but replacing it was the only option the support team came up with. It is rubbish that they don't replace the batteries when they cost such a huge amount.

I do recommend contact support ASAP and they are going to attend your case, hope you and your wrist are ok

I found if you remove your device and then reload on apps that my Versa 2 charge returned to normal.
