Versa 2 isn't tracking my SpO2 data

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just got the versa 2 because an article mentioned it could track my O2. Now it seems I can only get data at night, which isn’t useful. It says to download an O2 app at the App Store, but it doesn’t say which one and then it says to add a clock face with O2 and I don’t know how? Help!

Hi there, @Malmother. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the inconvenience with your new Versa 2.

Please note since you have just setup your Versa 2 it may appear up to date but it needs another update. Once updated, you'll be able to download the SpO2 clock face. The latest update isn't available until up to 48 hours after setup. For more information, see What's changed in the latest Fitbit device update?

Also, bear in mind when it comes to your heart rate data and other data that is based on HR readings, you'll to wear your Versa 2 for three days before you start seeing values for both, your sleep and SpO2 data. Since your Fitbit device is pretty new, give the heart rate a few days to settle down. It does some calculations, looking at heart rate throughout the day and while you are sleeping, so it might just not have enough data to give a reasonable value yet.

Nevertheless, please keep in mind the following:

  • Your device doesn’t retroactively measure your SpO2 values. When you start using Fitbit SpO2, you’ll see dashed lines until after your next sleep session.
  • You must get at least 3 hours of quality sleep. Data is only collected when you’re still. If you move a lot during your sleep or the sleep session is too short, you might not get SpO2 data.
  • Charge your Fitbit device to make sure it’s able to collect data throughout your entire sleep session. Note that you may have to charge your Fitbit device more often when using an SpO2 clock face or app.
  • You must sync your Fitbit device with the Fitbit app before the clock shows your SpO2 data. Note that it may take around an hour for your SpO2 values to appear after you sync your device. For troubleshooting syncing, see Why won't my Fitbit device sync?
  • Turning off any SpO2 clock face or app permissions can cause the feature to stop functioning. For instructions on adjusting permissions, see How do I install and manage apps on my Fitbit device?
  • Your Fitbit device must be able to consistently track your SpO2 data:
    • Wear your device slightly higher on your wrist.
    • Make sure your device is in contact with your skin.
    • Your device should be snug but not constricting.
    • Tattooed skin can impact the accuracy of the red and infrared sensors on your Fitbit device.

Hi, @Malmother , you are correct in your understanding that the SpO2 tracking for your Fitbit is for night time readings only.  That is how it is designed.  It is not an instant SpO2 monitor.

The SpO2 app is available in the Fitbit app.  Click on the person photo/icon top left on the opening screen, then click on your Versa 2 picture.  On the next screen choose “Gallery” and then apps, where you will find the SpO2 app available to install.  You will find more information there on how to use the app.

You will also need to wear your Fitbit at night for several nights before you get a reading, as it will need to establish a baseline for you.  Also note that other factors may affect whether you get a reading - the Fitbit will need to detect your heart rate consistently through the night.  You will not get a reading for sleeps less than 3 hours.

I hope this helps.  Welcome to the forums!
