Versa 2 lost data after a factory reset

My fitbit versa 2 wouldn't sync today and usually I can fix this by restarting my watch. I did the same today and got a big cross that said "data not cleared". I tried to turn it off and on again and re-installed the app and I think it reset my whole device. I've lost my steps/heartrate/etc data from the start of the day when it synced and when I reset it. Is there any way to recover it??

Hello there @Breekate, welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for troubleshooting this situation prior to posting here.

Please note that the error message you're now receiving on your Versa 2's screen ("Data not cleared, Sync & Try and again") usually appears when you've performed a factory reset without first unpairing it. To solve the issue, please try the following steps:

  • Remove your Versa 2 from your Fitbit account and unpair it from your phone's Bluetooth.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Setup your Versa 2 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 2.

If you can't get started with your Versa 2, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article: Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

Regarding your data lost, when you perform a factory reset you’ll need to reinstall any apps and music on your device after the reset, and since you haven't synced your device, then any data on the Fitbit device will be lost.
