Versa 2 not recording steps

Every day I know I've walked more steps than my Versa 2 records but today I did a quick 5 minute jog on the treadmill and my step count didn't change at all. What gives? My old Blaze did a better job.

Where you holding onto the bars? 

Your Fitbit does not count steps, but counts hand no vents that should be made when the feet are moving.

I wasn't holding on to the bars. This was just one example. There have also been other times when I'm just walking around and it doesn't record any steps.

Have you tried restarting the tracker. Better to die a shutdown, which is the only way to do a hard(ware) reset.
