Since the update, no matter what form of exercise it just says 0 active minutes and my heart rate is always below zones. The calories burned seems very low in comparison to before the update.
What can be done to sort this out?

FitBit has apparently rethought its definition of "activity".
And if you notice, in the mobile app they are no longer referred to as "Active Minutes" but "Active Zone Minutes". That is because your device tracks minutes your heart is in the Fat Burn/Cardio/Peak zones. If you take a leisurely walk where your heart rate is "below zone" for the time you are walking you will get zero Active Zone Minutes. And getting "into zone" has just gotten more difficult.
If you look, your heart rate zones do not have the same values they had before the firmware update.
Just so you all understand how the zones changed -
The Heart Rate Zone calculations have moved from the Traditional formula which are straight fixed percentages (50, 70 and 85%) of your Max Heart Rate which is defined as subtracting your age from 220. For me, as a 68 year old male, my Max Heart Rate is 152. Traditional zone values for me are shown in the first data row below.
As I mentioned earlier, the new formula being used by many FitBit devices, including the Versa 2 as of the latest release, use a value called Heart Rate Reserve. Subtracting your resting heart rate from your max heart rate results in that reserve.
40% of the reserve is added to your resting heart rate to establish the beginning of the Fat Burn Zone.
60% of the reserve is added to your resting heart rate to establish the beginning of the Cardio Zone.
85% of the reserve is added to your resting heart rate to establish the beginning of the Peak Zone.
The new Heart Rate Reserve formula zones for me are shown in the second data row below.
As you can see, the start my Fat Burn zone went up 23 bpm under the new method.
I hope this helps to explain what you are seeing since the update.
Welcome to the boards.

I am having a similar problem since the update. My new zones are fine. I understand the logic behind that change. However my normal high intensity workout today is displayed as "below zones" for the entire workout. Screenshot attached. This is obviously not correct. My new zones are 104 to 126 fat burn, 127 to 154 cardio, 155 plus is peak. You can see from my workout that I am in these zones throughout. Any idea how to fix this? Everything worked fine before the update.

You are not alone in this. I have seen a few posters having the same problem. Unfortunately for those that have the issue, not all do. FitBit is apparently aware of the issue, though.
<<edit>> Are you getting credit for Active Zone Minutes on the Today screen, or is it affecting that, as well?<</edit>>
I'm getting zone breakdowns:

I researched this and a Community Council Member who previously reported this also stated that for her, and others, it was a one day "glitch" and that it hasn't happened to her since the first time.
For your sake, I hope that today just happened to be your day, and that is it.

@MrMarv Nothing regarding Zone Minutes is showing at all on my Today page. My screen just looks like it did before the update and I don't see the additional detail that you have. Even when I go back to previous days, nothing on the Today page in terms of Zone Minutes. Hopefully this gets resolved soon. Sigh...

Ok..problem doesn't exist today. Safe to assume that this glitch is only for the day you update your firmware. If you are having this issue, the next time you workout, after the day you updated the firmware, all should look OK. See screen shots.
