I’ve had a Versa 2 for a couple years. A few months ago I bought a cheap fitness tracker/watch to wear when I’m in my workshop or doing other things where I don’t want to cause possible damage to the Fitbit. When I do this i power off the Fitbit. The past several days, I’ve been wearing the cheapie and the Versa 2 has been powered off and sitting on my nightstand. Late this afternoon I powered it back on and it showed over 1200 steps for the day. Hard to trust any stats when it magically records steps when it’s off and motionless.

Are you sure you mean 1200 steps, not 1200 calories burned?

Hi @BonzoDude - in addition, if you connect your phone to the account it can measure steps via the phone too.
In the Fitbit App, device/account page remove anything else connected to your account other than the versa 2 and see if that helps.

Yeah, I’m quite sure. And if I look at the detail screen that shows the bar graph of steps by hour, it shows steps for hours when the Versa was off and the app was not running on the phone.

There are are no other devices associated with the account. And I’m not sure I understand how the phone could be recording steps. I’m not aware of any functionality on the phone that would do this.

Well, I was today years old when I learned about this. 😂 My phone was indeed connected to the app and that would explain the “mystery” steps. Thanks for your help.
